Business Time

Every artist struggles with balancing business time with studio time. This class will help artists to fully understand and explore the business of making and selling their work. We will cover cost of production, bookkeeping, balance sheets, appropriate target marketing, artists statements, and presenting your work in the marketplace. There will be group discussions, lectures, and one-on-one meetings. This is an advanced level seminar for practicing artists working in any media. Emerging, mid-career, and established artists who are making and selling their work, who are ready and willing to take their career and their business practice to the next level are encouraged to apply.

Phil and Sara Sanders to lecture @ College of Charleston

Phil and Sara Sanders will give a joint lecture on their work and the process of collaborative printmaking at the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC. Phil will discuss his own studio work and his work as Master Printer at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. Sara will discuss her studio work as well as her experiences collaborating on print editions with Phil at the Blackburn Workshop.

The shared Forth Estate and RBPMW booth at Christie’s Multiplied featured new monoprints from Chuck Webster and a new swimming pool print from Alex Dodge, which was the star of the fair.

Phil Sanders to lecture in Antwerp, Belgium

Phil Sanders will be giving a lecture Think Before You Ink on the contemporary printmaking renaissance currently happening in NYC and Brooklyn at the Flemish Institute for Visual, Audiovisual, and Media Art in Antwerp, Belgium in cooperation with the Frans Masereel Center on October 4th, 2012. He will discuss new work being published by young Brooklyn publishers such asForth Estate, and PS Marlowe, as well as established NYC publishers Two Palms, Pace, and RBPMW.
