Chris Santa Maria

Chris Santa Maria (b. 1982, Pheonix, AZ) is a visual artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. His studio practice stems from the connections between nature, culture, art, science, and the intersections of the history and influence of U.S. domestic/geo-politics.  Santa Maria received his BFA in Painting from Arizona State University, has attended the Yaddo Artist Residency and Jason Andrew’s Norte Maar artist residency in the Adirondacks. Recent exhibitions at Jim Kempner Gallery, NY, NY, Phoenix Art Museum, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Pence Gallery UC Davis have highlighted the artist’s work in painting and collage.  Santa Maria’s work is in prominent collections including that of Beth Rudin DeWoody and Stephen Dull.

Chris Santa Maria is a leading professional in the field of fine art print publishing and has worked as the Director of Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Weyl Gallery in New York City since 2008.  The Field series of monotypes is the artist’s first foray into printmaking for his own personal work.
