Glen Baldridge

Glen Baldridge (b.1977 Nashville, TN) is a nationally recognized multi-disciplinary artist with a strong usage of printmaking techniques throughout his practice.  Baldridge’s works are contained in over a dozen major museum collections including Museum of Modern Art, NY; Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; Library of Congress, Washington DC; and RISD Museum.

Baldridge’s work taps into the power and persistence of myth in contemporary society that is present in kitsch collectables, cult films, the mainstream co-opting of counter cultures, and the worm hole of social media.  Baldridge strives to create work that is relatable to audiences of differing backgrounds who typically do not comingle, and whose only common experience may reside in popular culture.  It is here that Baldridge most often operates, at the points in between referencing the modernist question of what constitutes art.  Baldridge’s upbringing in Montana has played an important role in shaping his work placing him in the cannon beside artists like Ed Ruscha and Richard Prince.

Baldridge was the co-founder of the beloved and now defunct Forth Estate Editions, a fine art print publishing company in Brooklyn, NY and has made more 30 different print editions of his own work utilizing screenprint, woodcut, lithography, intaglio, photogravure, digital media, and pyrogravure.  Baldridge is represented by Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, NY and Halsey McKay Gallery, East Hampton.
