Remnants I is the first image in a series of graphic, colorful abstractions, drawn from historical artifacts of civilizations long past.  Living in Asheville, North Carolina, following hurricane Helene, I have been thinking a great deal about what we leave behind and about what survives.  Often it is just a remnant that remains for us to wonder about the lives that once held these objects.  The colors a made from leftover inks from other projects, remnants in their own right.  Each color combination produces a wide range of color interactions.  Color for me starts with a feeling, that often leads to a memory.  These colors remind me of a childhood kitchen, a coffee cup my mother held, a grass stain on Sunday clothes.

There are 31 different color-ways with this image, most of which there are only 2 or 3 impressions.  A few were printed in editions of 10-20.  Remnants I was produced as part of a New Year’s mailing to clients, artists, and friends.  The individual prints are not for sale, they have been given away, scattered across the globe. Only time will tell if any remain.  This is the only complete set of all 31 images, and is sold as a complete set.
